Sunday School Camp 2009 – Junior Activities – “Active Learning” (9 Dec, 7-9pm)
Station What campers do What mentors do Materials to prepare Check-list
Bible Verses & Fruit of the Spirit Campers will go to the station (and settle down around the table) and try to arrange the set of bible texts with their respective references, and definitions with the respective components of the fruit of the Spirit.
OR
Campers will gather in the camp grouping and have a competition with other groups – the group which gets the most number of correct matchings within the given time (say 15minutes) will be rewarded. Campers will take out the cards from a box with shredded newspaper and take turns to run to the board to stick their answers (the board will have the Bible references and the fruit of the Spirit labeled there).
Bible Verses (taken from their memory verses):
Psalm 14:2
“The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.” (KJV)
“The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.” (ESV)
Romans 10:10
“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (KJV)
“For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (ESV)
James 2:24,26
“Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” (KJV)
“You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.” “For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.” (ESV)
Galatians 6:9-10
“And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” (KJV)
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (ESV)
Fruit of the Spirit (taken from Galatians 5:22-23):
Love – Seeks the good of the person/object loved; Seeks opportunity to do good to all men (Rom 15:2; 13:8-10; Gal 6:10)
Joy – Not based on people or circumstances; Grounded in God; Glad-heartedness
Peace – Having harmonious relationships; Rest and contentment in God despite trouble
Longsuffering – Patience which does not give in to circumstances; Self-restraint in the face of provocation
Gentleness – Graciousness; Tenderness and compassion;
Goodness – Love in action
Faith – Taking God at His Word
Meekness – Humbling oneself to God’s Word; Power under control
Temperance – Self-control (Acts 24:45; 1 Peter 1:6); Not influenced by the world
Mentors to give the following instructions (based on scenario 1):
“In this packet there are bible texts and references, and some words/phrases that describe what each component of the fruit of the Spirit stands for. (Remember to show them a sample).”
“I want you to match them together, so that you can have the 4 bible verses with their reference, and the definitions to the fruit of the Spirit. For example, you will match Temperance with self-control. Take note that some of them may have more than 1 definition that are matching.”
Mentors to give the following instructions (based on scenario 2):
“Inside the box are cards stating some words/phrases that relate to the fruit of the Spirit, and the bible verses that correspond to the bible references stated on the board. Each one of you is to take turns to take a card out and stick it at the right places. You have a total of 15minutes to get a many done as possible.”
When campers are done:
When the campers are done with the matching, mentors are to check through the answers. Please try to read up on the fruit of the Spirit and the explanations for the bible verses in case the campers ask you about anything.
Wrap-up for both scenarios:
Do you all know why God tells us about the fruit of the Spirit? The fruit of the Spirit are aspects of godly character that we as Christians should work towards (John 15:8; Luke 6:43-45)
After wrap-up:
To proceed to the next station/room (each room will have 4 same stations)
The Ten Commandments Campers will start by discussing among themselves what the Ten Commandments are. When they have decided, they’ll write it down.
Then, they’ll be given the Bible to check whether or not they have written the commandments in correctly.
They will then have to explain 1-2 of the commandments (up to the mentor to choose) to the mentor.
Following which, they’ll have to think of corresponding scenarios that relate to the commandments that they have just talked about. OR Mentors will give them the scenarios and ask them if they think what is happening in the scenario actually goes against God’s Word.
When the discussion is over, campers will be given some material for them to make their own bookmark with the Ten Commandments on one side, and the fruit of the Spirit on the other.
Campers will then be given a short while to think about any sin that they have and the group will go into a time of prayer. Campers who would like to pray for the group should be encouraged to do so.
Instructions from mentors:
“Do you all know the Ten Commandments?”
(I presume that most of them would know, but if in any case there is anyone who doesn’t, mentors are to be prepared to explain)
“Now I’ll give you some time to discuss among yourselves and I want you all to write down the Ten Commandments in the correct sequence.”
(Meanwhile mentors will just sit with them and let them figure it out. Do take note of what they talk about as it may let you know about their misconceptions if there are any)
“Okay, now I want you all to flip the Bible and check if you have written them correctly.”
“Can anyone tell me what Tenth Commandment (for e.g.) means? What about the Fifth Commandment?”
(This is if the mentor decides to pick the commandments for discussion. Let campers explain what they understand about the commandment and try to let them finish up their sentences. However, try to guide them along the way if you think they are deviating)
“If one day your sibling irritates you and you get very angry. You are so upset with him/her that even until the next day, you still refuse to talk to him, do you think you have done anything wrong?”
(Sample scenario wrt the Sixth Commandment)
“You have broken the vase accidentally. You know that is your mum’s favourite vase and you dare not tell her the truth. You tell her that it was your sibling/pet that knocked it over. Which commandment have you broken?”
(Sample scenario wrt the Ninth Commandment: Some things that can be covered include – Is it all right to lie once in a while? What about a white lie? What about exaggerating? Numbers 32:23)
After discussion:
“Now each of you can make a bookmark with the Ten Commandments on one side, and the fruit of the Spirit on the other.”
(If campers would like to include something else, go ahead and let them do so, as long as it relates to the camp.)
Wrap-up:
The Ten Commandments are given by God to us to guide us in our thoughts and actions. While we were discussing just now, you would have realized that we can break the commandments not just by what we do, but also by what we think. Remember that God looks at our hearts. We can’t escape from God if we have done anything wrong.
Prayer Time:
Mentors to tell campers to pray for God’s forgiveness if they have done anything wrong. Please also encourage campers to pray for the group in general (perhaps even by praying aloud)
[Deuteronomy 5:6-21, James 2:10]
Time to show LOVE!! Over at this station, there are 2-3 activities: Love Bulletin Board, Everyday Love Booklet, Writing cards of encouragement/appreciation/etc (the last is optional)
Love Bulletin Board
Campers will refer to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and write down what love is on pieces of heart-shaped paper which will be attached to the big construction paper. (Refer to sample below)

Instructions for Love Bulletin Board:
Mentors to start by asking campers what they think “love” is, and what they think God says it is.
After campers are done giving their answers, get them to refer to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and read it aloud.
Followed by
Case 1:
Mentors will then pass them pieces of heart-shaped paper for them to write down the different descriptions about what “love” is.
The pieces of paper will be stuck onto the big construction paper with “Love 1 Cor 13:4-7” in the centre.
Case 2:
Mentors to explain to campers that they are to recall the descriptions about what “love” is as they have just read, and to unscramble the letters in each set to get the words in the right order.
“After you’ve gotten the words, stick them onto the small heart shapes on the paper.”
Instructions for Everyday Love Booklet:
“Who do you all think we are to love?”
“What about those classmates or your siblings who always like to fight with you?”
“God has told us in His Word that we are to love Him, our enemies, our parents, fellow Christians, church teachers and leaders, friends and neighbours.”
“Now, I want you to choose 2 days (show them the booklet) and write down how you will go about showing love to the people.”
Situations Campers to reflect back on the activity “Spirit of Giving”
For the 11-years-old and 12-years-old, it may be possible to give them the scenarios and start the discussion rather quickly.
However, for the younger ones, mentors are to ensure that they guide the campers through the thought process by using prompting/leading questions.
Compulsory:
If I see someone who is poor, do I have to give money to that person?
1. You have $2 left and you want to buy some snacks but you see an auntie selling tissue paper. It’s almost dinner time, your mum has prepared food for you, and you’re on your way home. Will you buy the tissue from the auntie or will you go ahead and buy snacks?
2. A blind man is singing on the streets and he needs people to donate money to him. You have some pocket money left from the past few days but you want to save them, what will you do?
3. Flag Day scenario
How can I help the less fortunate? [Deuteronomy 15:11, to find NT verse]
- Make it a point to set aside some of your allowance to give to your church or a Christian organization to help the poor etc
- Do volunteer work
- Pray for them!
Choose 1 more scenario from below for discussion:
- Your friends are making fun of someone you don’t like in school, what do you do? Tell them to stop or to join them? (Love/Peace) → if you tell them to stop and they scold you, what then? Do you try to defend yourself or simply keep quiet? (Temperance) → do you go and tell the person you don’t like that you helped him/her?
- You’re supposed to wake up early to go to school but you feel like sleeping more. Someone comes along to wake you up, what do you do? Shout at them to not disturb you or get up? (Temperance) → Now you’re up but still rather sleepy, your mum rushes you to wash up and have your breakfast which is the same old bread that you’ve been taking for the past few days, do you complain about it or do you do as your mum says? (Love)
- You see an old lady giving out leaflets in the evening, she still has a lot left and looks tired, do you help her by taking the leaflet as you draw near to her or do you walk as far as possible from her? (Goodness/Gentleness/Joy)
- You’re accused of something you did not do, do you let God be your defense or do you try to defend yourself (excessively)? Hebrews 13:6; Psalm 7:15-16 (Faith/Meekness/Longsuffering/Peace) #to further describe the situation
- Exams are coming and you’re scared that you won’t do well, do you skip fellowship meeting to study at home or do you go to church? (Faith) → You decided to go for fellowship but in the end you did badly for exams, do you blame God or continue to give thanks? (Faith) OR What if your parents tell you not to go for fellowship because of your exams? Would you obey them? How would you explain to your parents why you want to go? How will you react if they insist that you stay home to study? (“Honour thy father and thy mother”; Way of being a good testimony to non-Christian parents as well)
- You’re queuing up to board the bus when a lady comes squeezing her way onto the bus. What do you do – try to “fight” with her, scold her, let her be?
- You went to buy something and the shopkeeper gave you extra change, do you keep the money so that you can buy something that you’ve been eyeing or do you return the extra money? (Thou shalt not covet/steal)
Instructions/Things to take note of:
Mentors can start by asking campers what they thought of yesterday’s activity, the Spirit of Giving.
In this section, mentors are to guide the campers through a series of questions that will lead them towards understanding specific lessons:
For the compulsory section:
Has anyone tried to sell tissue paper to you or your parent before?
(This is to trigger their thought process to make them recall what they see around)
How did they look like?
(Some descriptions could be blind men, old uncle, hunchbacked elderly lady, etc)
Did you/your parent buy the tissue paper from them?
(They’ll most likely just say yes/no. If they don’t elaborate, move on to the next question)
If no, why?
(Help them to realize that these people are making a living and that the S$1/2 that we/our parents part with are small losses as compared to helping the needy)
If you did, what component of the fruit of the Spirit do you think you are showing?
(Answer includes love, goodness, joy)
For the second chosen situation:
Questions will follow the flow as given on the left.
Mentors are reminded to ask campers “WHY?” regarding their actions.
Campers should respond to one another, therefore mentors ought to ask camper A what he/she thinks of Camper B’s response.
Ask the campers if they think their mentioned behaviour reflects the fruit of the Spirit or whether or not they have transgressed any of the Ten Commandments.
Finally, ask them how they would like to react when facing similar situations.

1600 First team to complete Upon completion, teams will be allowed to wash up and change into clean and dry clothes at the nearby toilets
1630 Last team to complete
1700 Move out from ECP
1830 Arrival at Church
NOTE:
Order of dispatch -
How the games will be played:
• Upon the dispatching of the group, teams will be issued their first clue to their first checkpoint by the respective mentors
o Note that the list of clues for the side quest is also to be given out at this point
o Also, the timing begins once the first clue is distributed
• Clues are pictures taken at the checkpoint
• Teams will then navigate their way to the checkpoint with minimal or no supervision by the mentors
• Upon reaching the checkpoint, the group I/C is to notify the mentor who would then verify if the team are at the right place
o The onus is on the mentors to prevent the teams from getting “too lost”
• Once it has been confirmed that the team is at the checkpoint, mentors will then read out the heading of the game; for example, “longest or shortest?”
• The teams will then have to decide which game they would go for without having any details of the respective games
o Note that there will be games where they do not have a choice and the above point does not apply then
• Mentors will supervise and “judge” the team’s performance as they execute the respective tasks at the various checkpoints in the absence of station masters
• Once satisfied, mentors are to issue the team with their next checkpoint
Prelude:
• Prior to leaving church, teams will be given a chance to select 5 out of 10 items (journey essential items) that would possibly aid them in their race
• Mentors are to bring along the remaining 5 and should the team realize that they have to use them, they will have to get them from the mentors and be issued with a 5min penalty – 5min will be added to the time they took to finish the race
• The 10 items are as follows:
o Paper plates
o Newspaper
o Plastic cups
o Plastic spoons
o Plastic water bottle
o Raffia String (1m)
o Map of ECP
o Chopsticks
o Water bottle
Side Quest:
• Teams will also have to be concurrently trying to solve a side quest as they embark on the race
• They will have to look out for various signs/eye-catching thing around the park (Area F to G) which match the “lame/corny” descriptions given to them at the starting point
• They will have to take a picture of the sign/eye-catching thing and present them to their mentors at the end of the race
• For every correct guess, 1 min will be deducted from their total race timing
• For every wrong guess, 1 min will be added to their total race timing
• Refer to the end of the document for the clues and their respective answers
NOTE:
• In the event where 2 teams meet at a checkpoint, the team that comes later will have no choice over the task to be tackled
Details for Each Activity
• The following are the details of each activity in the order which they will be played
• The pictures attached to each checkpoint will be the same thing issued to the campers
• The approximate location of each checkpoint can be found on the maps attached
1. Loudest/Softest
Venue:
Description:
Loudest
• Teams are to sing a CHRISTIAN KINDERGARDEN/CHILDREN SONG in the LOUDEST voice possible, while running or walking up the ramp
• Teams will only be allowed to leave when the mentors are satisfied with the volume of their cheer
Softest
• Teams are to pass on a specified message in the SOFTEST way possible (i.e. actions only, like broken telephone)
• Teams are to spread out from the base to the top of the “tower”
• Teams will only be allowed to leave when the message is at least 90 percent accurate
• The message will be as follows, “Uncle Johnny sold goreng pisang at Mountbatten road yesterday during the Standard Charted Marathon and injured his left knee.”
Safety Pointers:
• Mentors are to watch out for the participants as they make their way up the stairs and ensure that there is no pushing or foul play that might result in accidents
Other Remarks:
• NOTE: The starting and ending points for the above 2 games will be marked with duct tape by the advanced party to avoid confusion(:
• This is a possible venue to stop at should the weather turn nasty
2. Walking by Faith
Venue:
Description:
The rough layout of the obstacle course is as follows:
Description:
• Teams are required to complete an obstacle course blindfolded, under the instruction of one member who can see
• Teams will be blindfolded, and have to hold on to the shoulder of the member standing in front, thereby forming a row
• They will be navigated through a series of obstacles (as seen in the diagram above) by a member who is outside of the course area, and shouting directions
• This round aims to encourage trust in each other, and teamwork in helping each other along the obstacle course. In addition, this is meant to deliver the message in 2 Corinthians 4:13 For we walk by faith, not by sight
Safety Pointers:
• Mentors and station master(s) are to watch out for the participants for they will be blindfolded
o Mentors and station master(s) are to stop the participants should they spot possible accidents on the verge of happening
Other Remarks:
• NOTE: in the event where the group knocks over the bottles, mentors/station master will replace the bottle and let the game carry on
o However, everytime a water bottle falls, 30s will be added to the total timing for the group – mentors to note down
• The obstacle course will be set up by the advanced party
• This station will be manned by one / two station masters
3. Mustard Seed Madness
Venue:
Description:
• Teams are required to separate the mustard seeds from the various other seeds, all placed in a container/plastic bowl. (Other seeds can include red bean, kidney beans, rice etc) Teams must separate the mustard seeds in the fastest time possible, and every mustard seed found left with the other seeds represents a time forfeit of 5 seconds.
• [Note: This game will be a breeze for teams who chose the water bottle as the opening on the cap should be only small enough to allow the mustard seeds to be filtered out]
• This round aims to encourage cooperation as more hands will make this manual task an easier one. Also, this draw links to the passage on faith like the mustard seed in Matthew 17:20. Matthew 17:20b ... for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Safety Pointers:
• Mustard seeds are incredibly minute in size and easily mistaken for dirt
o Have replaced the mustard seeds with black sesame seeds
o Mentors are to show the campers how the different seeds look like before mixing them together
Other Remarks:
• Mentors will be carrying the seeds / beans with them
4. Longest/Shortest
Venue:
Description:
Longest
• Teams are to create the LONGEST line with whatever they have (including themselves – if they happen to think of it) which is at least 15m in length
• The 10m will be measured by a raffia string mentors will have with them
Shortest
• Teams are fit all members onto the SHORTEST length of newspaper in a landscape position i.e. ONE piece of newspaper
• Teams are allowed to use the additional newspapers if they have chosen to bring it as their “journey essential item”
Safety Pointers:
• As the participants are trying to squeeze onto the small piece of newspaper, they might fall
o Mentors are to watch out for this and intervene if necessary
Other Remarks:
5. Biggest/Smallest
Venue:
Description:
Biggest
• Teams are to finish eating half a watermelon in the shortest time
• However, they will only be able to use the spoons to come into contact with the watermelon
o This means that the teams will have to device a plan to hold the watermelon with their spoons and have other members eat the flesh simultaneously
Safety Pointers:
• To prevent contamination to the watermelon, the watermelon will be purchased and brought to the park as a whole and cut on the spot
• Sis Charissa / any other responsible ADULT will be on site to take care of the cutting process
• Mentors are to look out for any possibility of participants choking on the watermelon
Smallest
• Teams are to sieve through plates of flour in an attempt to find the SMALLEST object in the flour – a green bean seed
• There will be 5 plastic plates filled with flour
• In each plastic plate, there will be ONE green been seed which participants will have to retrieve
• However, participants are not allowed to have their body parts come into contact with the flour in any way
• Participants are only allowed to use a plastic spoon to retrieve the beans
• Blowing of the flour is allowed – however mentors/station masters are to refill the flour when they deem necessary
• Participants are to retrieve 5 green bean seeds and place then on a separate plastic plate before they are allow to move on to the next checkpoint
Safety Pointers:
• There will be at least 2 bottles of water placed here
o The water will be used in case there is a need to wash the flour of the participants’ eyes if the situation calls for it
Other Remarks:
• This station will be manned by one/two station masters who will be in charge of preparing the plates of flour with one green been seed in each plate
• Mentors can assist the station master(s) to refill the flour if necessary
6. Furthest/Nearest
Venue:
Description:
Furthest
• Teams are to make their way to the FURTHEST specified point marked by a line formed by white tape. However, they would have to perform this task with their legs tied to another team member with raffia strings such that they from a horizontal line (with each team member at the side of the other)
• Other ways of “tying themselves together” are also allowed if deemed safe by the mentors
• Teams will only be allowed to leave once the whole team cross the finishing line (white tape)
Safety Pointers:
• Mentors are to watch out for the participants as they will be prone to falling down with their legs tied together
Nearest
• Teams are to make their way to the NEAREST specified point (where they are) to find a token (to be decided what) buried in the sand
• The token will a yakult bottle and the area where the bottle is buried will be marked by a hula hoop
• Mentors are to ensure that the hula hoop is removed prior to the commencement of the digging for the token
• Teams are to bury the token and mark the area with the hula hoop before leaving the checkpoint
Safety Pointers:
• Mentors are to keep an eye on the participants as they dig for the token and stop them if any hazardous objects are spotted while digging
Other Remarks:
7. Highest/Lowest
Venue:
Description:
Highest
• Teams are to Build the HIGHEST sandcastle which is at the knee level of the tallest member of the team
• Teams are allowed to use anything they have brought along or find to build the sandcastle – paper plates, sticks etc
Lowest
• Teams are to get into the LOWEST position possible (i.e. lie down) and roll 5 rounds together, then whilst lying face down, sing a CHRISTIAN KINDERGARDEN/CHILDREN SONG
Safety Pointers:
• Mentors are to choose a safe spot – away from the sea and without hazardous objects on the ground for the execution of this game
Other Remarks:
8. Deepest/Shallowest
Venue:
Description:
Deepest
• Teams are to Dig the DEEPEST hole possible, which must be able to bury a team member
• Teams are allowed to use anything they have brought along or find to build the sandcastle – paper plates, sticks etc
o Note: Teams will not actually DIG but just somehow cover the team member in sand
Safety Pointers:
• Mentors are to keep an eye on the participants as they attempt to bury their friend
o Watch out for sand going into the person’s face/eye
Shallowest
• Teams are Enter the SHALLOW-EST part of the waters (ankle deep) and do 10 star jumps in a synchronised manner
Safety Pointers:
• Mentors are to ensure that teams adhere to the “ankle deep” rule
Other Remarks:
9. Blind Bat Bomb (final game)
Venue:
The game will be played along the “beach bay” numbered 24 and the below pictures are significant landmarks around the area.
o
Description:
Layout of Game
• Teams are accumulate as many water bombs in the pail at the end point as possible
• They are to do so by:
o Choosing ONE member of the team to be blindfolded
o Forming a human chain by pairing up with a partner and a trash bag (demarked by X in the figure above)
o Fill up the water bombs using the seawater (no restriction to how many persons take up this task. Participants are free to carry out the task in their own creative ways.)
o Pass the water bombs down the chain using the trash bags provided
o Successfully toss the water bomb into the pail at the end of the chain
o Game ends when all the water bombs possible end up in the pail(less those that have been burst)
o In the event when the water bombs fall on the ground, mentors/station master will bring the bomb back to the starting line for the campers to restart the whole process (no need to let the water out though)
o Mentors are to take note of how many water bombs end up in the pails and log the number in the score sheet
Rules:
• Members forming a pair should hold on to opposite ends of the trash bag, and in cooperation, toss the water bomb to the next pair, and those that are burst will not be counted
• At anytime, participants are to remain stationary (no movement of the feet) as long as they have a water bomb in their trash bag they are holding on to with their pair
• This round aims to encourage teams to assist and support the member who is blindfolded, as well as to parallel the story of Jesus’ healing of the blind Bartimaeus in Mark 10:46 – 52. Mark 10:52a And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.
Safety Pointers:
• Salt water from the sea might sting the eyes of the participants
o Mentors are to try to ensure that no foul play is being carried out and that all water bombs are kept below waist level at all times
o One or Two pails of clean water will be on site, supplemented by bottles of water, for emergencies where salt water enters the participants’ eyes and irritates them
• Due to the nature of the area, participants will have to tackle the problem of transferring the water bombs up a slight slope.
• Mentors and station masters are to keep a close watch on the campers in a bid to prevent unnecessary accidents.
Other Remarks:
• NOTE: Get the group to assemble at the pavilion nearby before you STOP the timing for the group(:
Side Quest
The following are the pictures that campers are to find along the way.

• NOTE: Get the group to assemble at the pavilion nearby before you STOP the timing for the group(:

tracting by timothy woon (2010)
Plan for tracting on Monday night
Flow of events:
1900-2000: Campers to wash up and have their dinner after the ECP event.
1930-2000: Prayer for the campers and briefing
2000-2015: Move out to the venue for tracting
2015-2100: Tracting
2100-2115: Gather at pre-determined meeting point
2115-2130: Move back from venue of tracting to church
Instructions for tracting:
1. The campers will be split into pairs. Each pair of campers will be accompanied by either a mentor or an adult helper. In view of the fact that the tracting will be done at night, the younger campers from primary school will be accompanied by older mentors or helpers.
2. The solution to the safety issue as mentioned above is preliminary and suggestions are welcomed as to how to ensure better safety for the campers and helpers during the tracting.
3. During the briefing before moving off, the campers and mentors/helpers will be briefed on the block where they will tract. When we reach the venue, David and Timothy will personally point out the block which the groups have been assigned to. (I welcome better suggestions regarding this point as well)
4. The mentor/helper assigned to each pair must be contactable through HP.
5. After the pairs have completed the tracting, they are to assemble at a pre-determined location and wait for the rest to complete tracting.
6. A problem noted is that there could be some pairs which finish exceptionally fast and would end up waiting awhile. In the mean time, the mentor/helper assigned to that pair could start conducting a brief form of reflections on the experience of tracting that the pair had just gone through.
7. Should there be any encounter with difficult persons during the tracting, the pairs are to remain polite, smile and move on. In the worse case scenario where the person tries to harass them, the assigned mentor/helper is to immediately call either Dness Chai Lang, Dn David, Joseph, Joel, Timothy or David.
8. Do not give out tracts to Malays.
Preparation:
1. The venue will be the blocks at Teban. We will be doing door to door tracting.
2. There is a potential need to call for more adult helpers for this event. As noted below, the highlighted portions reflect the lack of supervision. So far, Dness Chai Lang and Sis Charissa, Joseph and Timothy can take 4 more pairs leaving 3 pairs in need of helpers.
3. Below is a preliminary proposed grouping: (feel free to comment on the pairing)
Group Elijah:
Pair 1: Isaac and Dixuan supervised by Jaime
Pair 2: Brenda and Keith Ting supervised by Daryl
Pair 3: Alex Lim and Bryan supervised by Jonathan Ong
Pair 4: Cheok Jia Ying and Rachel Kwek supervised by Dness Chai Lang

Note: Invite the children camp helpers and Sunday School teachers for the tracting.
groups should include boys and girls for safety concerns
(I welcome better suggestions regarding this point as well)
4. The mentor/helper assigned to each pair must be contactable through HP.

campfire by timothy woon and reggie ng (2010)
Plan for campfire night
Sequence of event:
1800-1830: Dinner for campers at the fellowship hall
1830-1900: Preparation for the campfire by getting the props and any last minute rehearsals. Gather around the campfire at the carpark.
1900-1930: Opening hymn, Pastor Heng lights the fire and another two more hymns
1930-1945: 1 game of modified bombing
1945-2045: Skit begins. Each group is allocated 15 minutes for the skit.
2045-2115: Exhortation by Pastor Heng
2115-2130: Appreciation of camp helpers
2130-2145: Slide Show for the camp
2145-2200: Announcement of results for the skit
2200 onwards: Clear up the place
Skit instructions:
1. Each group is named after a Bible character who is known to have a deep walk with God. Therefore the skit involves the group using an appropriate passage from the Bible regarding the character which the group is named after which is connected with the camp theme: steps to a deeper Christian life/walk with God.
2. Skit stories:
a. Team Abraham: God asks Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac (Genesis 22: 1-24). This reflects obedience to God, an essential element of a Christian life.
b. Team Job: the team is to enact three scenes depicting the moments of Job’s life before God took everything away, during the period when Job was stripped of everything and the period when God restored Job and blessed him with more. This reflects perseverance and endurance.
c. Team Elijah: the scene where Elijah challenges the prophets of Baal. (1 Kings 18: 16-40) This reflects faith in God to deliver us through challenges.
d. Team Paul: the conversion of Paul from Saul the persecutor to Paul the fervent missionary of God (Acts 9).
3. Each skit is to last for a maximum of 15 minutes and no longer.
4. The props for the skit are to be sourced out by the individual groups.
5. Brief the mentors first regarding the skit story before the camp starts. Get them to start talking about the skit during the free times or meal times in the first 3 days of the camp.
Modified bombing game:
1. The objective of this game is to get the campers excited for the campfire and to take the mind of the campers off the stress of the skit presentation that is to come.
2. On the other hand, it is also noted that the campers may not be too engaged in the game because some may be nervous ahead of the skit presentation. Therefore the duration of this game would only last for 15 minutes.
3. The game involves getting the groups to bomb each other.
4. The twist lies in the sound to be made by the group seeking to bomb another group. I am still trying to think of what sounds can be made for each group.
Wet weather program:
1. The same program could still be held but in the fellowship hall.
2. There may be issues with the venue though.
Roles:
1. Pastor Heng to give the exhortation and light the fire
2. Reginald to be the emcee and game master.
3. Who is leading worship? Who is playing the instrument?
4. Reverend Simon, Aunt Jenny and Pastor Heng are the judges for the skit.
5. Samuel is the man for the PA system
Logistics and preparation:
1. Safety: positioning of fire hose
2. Arrangement of chairs around the carpark (done on Thursday afternoon)
3. PA system: Samuel in charge? Confirm with Samuel on Sunday.
4. Slideshow: Joel will do the slideshows for the camp. Need to find out where to get projector and screen.
5. Campfire: Timothy, David and Joseph to settle this.
6. Materials needed for campfire: camfur, fire starter, twigs, wood, bricks, zinc.
Note:
• Get Jocelyn or Iris to lead in singspiration.
• Invite Rev Ong for the campfire night and to be one of the judges.
• Call Bro Joseph Mok for help
